Packard introduced the Twin 6, the world's first series production twelve-cylinder car, in 1915. The engine consists of two banks of six cylinders joined at a 60 degree V and produces an astonishing 85 horsepower. Packard was able to sell the Twin 6 cars for less than its previous six-cylinder model. Production of the Twin 6 was interrupted by World War I, during which Packard built Liberty Aircraft engines. After the war, civilian production resumed and the Twin 6 took its place as one of the most prestigious American automobiles.
In 1921, Warren Harding became the first U.S. President driven to the White House in a Packard Twin 6.
This car sits on a 136" wheelbase, has 35" tall tires and cost $4,100 when new. It was restored in 1980.
